3 Tips for Cooking Chicken Healthy

Posted by admin under healthy cooking

Can you remember a time when you got sick of eating chicken? Most of us who have tried repeatedly to live healthy can. There are three healthy ways to cook chicken, and even better, they’re surprisingly easy to do. Since part of living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining an attractive figure requires your primary source of protein to come from chicken, it is only fitting that you should know the healthiest and quickest ways for eating it.

Tips for Cooking Chicken #1 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Boneless chicken breasts are the absolute quickest way to go about preparing chicken. You can buy them at any grocery store and use them as you need them when you make meals. Just pull one from the freezer, thaw it and cook. Buying your chicken this way is much cheaper and much easier than buying a whole chicken and having to remove the skin and cut it up yourself. With the bones and skin already removed you can have your dinner ready in 30 minutes. All you have to do is flavor the chicken and bake it in the oven and wait for the timer to buzz.

Tips for Cooking Chicken #2 Whole, roasted chicken

This is a great option because it will leave you with leftovers, which can then be used to make healthy sandwiches or salads over the course of a few days. It takes about an hour to roast a whole chicken in the oven, but preparation requires you to only sprinkle some seasonings. Once this is done the chicken need only be placed in a pan and stuck in the oven at a high heat. Then while you’re waiting for it to finish ,you can accomplish other chores you may have or go exercise.

Tips for Cooking Chicken #3 Rotisserie chicken

This is an excellent option for the person who hates cooking. You can buy a rotisserie chicken at any grocery store deli that is ready to eat as soon as you get home. You know that it is healthy for you because of the way it was cooked. In addition, you will enjoy having leftovers to use in meals over the next day or so, which will save you the time and trouble of having to decide what to eat.

The sky is the limit when it comes to preparing chicken. The three different types above are healthy ways. In fact, a good rule of thumb is that if you bake it, broil it or boil it, it’s healthy. Make sure and stay away from eating it fried or breaded. Both process use high fattening substances such as cooking oil, butter and eggs.

If you need ideas for how to prepare chicken so that you get a chance to experience different flavors, there are numerous recipes on the internet and in cookbooks you can reference. So many that there is truly no excuse for ever getting tired of eating chicken again.

While some may turn on the television to watch the news, find out the latest scores or shop from the comfort of home, a growing number of individuals are turning to their favorite food show to learn how to make the latest dish. From Rachel Ray’s Thirty Minute Meals and Giada De Laurentiis’ Every Day Italian to Iron Chef and Hells Kitchen, every day viewers are tuning in to learn cooking tips and techniques. These shows have stream lined culinary education and touch base with viewers who may not be experienced in the kitchen but are hungry for the knowledge.

Learning to become a chef is like an art. Just as an artist pours their heart and soul into painting portraits, chefs put their heart and soul into what they cook. However, there is more to cooking than learning cooking techniques. The culinary arts include refining skills such as math, nutrition and management. It is important that chefs understand what they are cooking and what is in the foods they are preparing. These skills are essential to the field. While cooking is the most important aspect of culinary schools, most schools offer classes that put cooking secondary to learning the skills and knowledge that help chefs understand culinary arts to the fullest.

One skill that is important to culinary education is math. Recipes contain numerous amounts and numbers whether it is cups, tablespoons or teaspoons. A chef must know how to divide and multiply recipes into equal proportions. If a recipe makes five servings and only three servings need to be made, the chef needs to know how to divide the ingredients so that they are proportionate to each other and that the basics of the recipe stays the same.

Besides math, aspiring chefs must also gain experience in purchasing, receiving, storage and inventory. These skills are taught during the students’ culinary education and will help once they become chefs at a restaurant. Whether a chef is working at a five star resort or a small restaurant these skills are invaluable to the profession. The more a chef knows about these areas the more marketable and appealing they will be to potential employers.

Another crucial skill for chefs is leadership. A chef needs to be able to take charge in the kitchen and delegate tasks to other chefs. If a chef does not have leadership in the kitchen it can be a disaster. Food would not be prepared on time and there would be utter chaos. Culinary education emphasizes leadership because not only is it essential in the culinary world, but it is important in everyday life as well. Along with leadership, chefs also must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. If a chef cannot communicate what he or she wants, then tasks are not going to be completed.

One criterion important to the service industry is personal and industry sanitation and safety. With national outbreaks in E.Coli and Salmonella, it is important that students learning to become chefs are taught principles in sanitation and safety, which they will use once they go out into the real world. Culinary education emphasizes these principles. Students will establish standards while in culinary school and maintain them throughout their education.

There is a lot more to becoming a chef than just cooking. It is important for schools to incorporate these skills into culinary education and offer students the knowledge that will help them become successful in the restaurant setting. These skills will not only help them once they graduate and are concocting their own masterpieces, but it will also help them in everyday life.

Imagine a world where your old cooking oil replaces the need for gasoline. Instead of pumping your car at a gas station for $3.30 a gallon, you drive to one of your local restaurants and fill up for pennies. The funny thing is, you don’t need to imagine anymore. That’s right!!!! No matter how many times you read this, the facts remain the same. Who ever thought cooking oil could be so multi-functional, the same stuff you use to fry your chicken and french fries can be now be used in your gas tank.

Environmentally friendly, the use of this household product is nothing new, especially for cars and trucks powered by diesel engines. This low emission oil has been an alternative for some time now, even before gas prices went on the rise. The first test results were around as far back as when gas prices were less than a dollar per gallon (what a sweet memory that is).

Should you decide to start using your old cooking oil in the car, here are some tips you may wish to keep in mind. You would of course need to filter the oil. At current pricing, the filtering system will cost you somewhere around a thousand dollars. The cost in the long run would be well worth it for your pocket book and for the environment. Cooking oil burns a lot slower than gasoline because it is thicker which means it lasts longer, but there are a few ways to work with that because it can have its hazards as well. You could thin the oil out or buy a separate gas tank so you can switch between two gas tanks: cooking oil and regular gas. That works if you are a bit uneasy about completely using cooking oil.

Before we all get too carried away let’s have a look at an interesting nugget of information. Even though gas prices have been high this summer with little or no sign of going down any time soon, these current gas prices are not record breaking in comparison to the 1973 Oil Crisis which took gas prices from 30 cents a gallon to 55 cents a gallon. The minimum wage at that time was less than $2.00 an hour. In addition, car owners could only purchase gas on certain days depending on what numbers were on their license plate. Just try to imagine going through that nightmare today.

But the problem still remains, with millions of American families living from paycheck to paycheck, these ridiculously high gas prices are now forcing people to look at alternative ways to work around it. The environmental buffs are very pleased to point out that the sales of hybrid cars has drastically risen over the last year. The problem with this is that most hybrid cars are far more expensive than the normal car and the payback can take many years. There also appears to be a big raise in the use of public transportation again! Many people are now thinking more about how and when they use their cars. Do I really need to make this trip? It would appear that the most cost-effective solution open to us at this time is to purchase cars that give you the best MPG (miles per gallon), something the rest of the world has been doing for years. Those poor British car owners have been paying over $8.00 a gallon for years now, and they produce their own oil from the North Sea.

Have we really reached the point where alternative sources of energy such as our old cooking oil have become a real solution to our problem?
