I think great would look fabulous. Check out "dried thyme" or "knitting needles" by Sherwin Williams. The red, green & gold really do coordinate well together.

As for the question about green & French Country, here are examples of all kinds of French Country furniture with a light sage paint:

Decorating ideas for french country style kitchen.?
Help! My living room & kitchen are side by side. Living room is painted 'gambol gold' (a dark golden yellow) & I have a large red couch & rug w/ Waverly red & gold toile fabric accents and curtains.

The bathroom adjacent to the living room entryway is off of the kitchen. It is wallpapered in a red & gold toile paper w/ white accents & cabinetry.

The kitchen has white farmhouse cabinets, black granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen also has a large bay window. I have the Le Rooster collection dishes, serving plates, etc. These are all multi colored dishes w/ rust red, green, gold, black, etc. http://www.reflectionsgallery.us/WebPages/LeRooster.htm
Currently I have a few of the plates hanging on the wall for decoration.

Here is my question (finally!).......What color would look best for the kitchen walls? I would like to do green color, but don't want the house to look like a crayon box of colors & I am not sure if green goes w/french country
