Cooking 4 Everyone

Everything Cooking….

Im lookign for a cookbook with a variety of healthy meals that wont break my grocery budget and wont make me tear out my hair with overly complicated instructions or super lengthy cooking times.

Honestly, I think the best home cookbook is any edition of the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book. There's a wide variety of recipes for all sorts of food and nearly all of them are good. It's a from-scratch book though so not anything like Rachel Ray. The instructions and the methods section are pretty clear but there's no mixing together five pre-cut, pre-washed veggies with "EVOO" in a pan and sticking them between store bought buns. That's what I like about it though.

I strongly recommend "Microwave Cooking" by Richard Deacon. It must be at least 20 years out of print but is exceptionally good.

Some of my favorites are from Rachel Ray. She has simple, easy to understand recipes and they won't break your budget. I have 3 children, I am all about, quick, simple and healthy. Another one of my tricks is a cookbook that has simple recipes for crock pots. Those are easy, you throw things together in a pot before you leave for work and when you get home, its time to eat. They are wonderful. But, over all Rachel Ray is about the best family friendly and affordable. If you have time try to catch her on the Food Network on 30-Minute Meals. She'll walk you through the recipes. Good Luck!

  5. Curious Said,

Cooking Light Magazine has a great series of cookbooks of their 'Dinner Tonight' recipes. Each can be prepared in 30 minutes or less and the instructions are pretty easy. My favorite part is that they usually give you an entire meal plan with a suggested order for preparation so that everything finishes hot and on time.
